Agosto, 11 al 15: La mujer costarricense

El 15 de agosto Costa Rica celebra el Día de la Madre y, por extensión, el mes de agosto es el mes de la mujer.

Mucho se ha dicho sobre el rol tradicional de las mujeres latinoamericanas; pero, siendo Costa Rica un país en vías de desarrollo y en el que convive una sociedad tradicional y conservadora junto a una sociedad moderna y liberal; es lógico que haya habido cambios en el papel que desempeña la mujer en la casa y en la sociedad.

Durante esta semana, se enfocará el papel de la mujer como madre, esposa y trabajadora y su esfuerzo por ser reconocida como igual al hombre o por conservar las tradiciones y costumbres de sus antepasados; y al mismo tiempo, la fecha servirá para hacerle un pequeño homenaje a la mujer como madre, amiga y compañera.

August 11th – 15th: Costa Rican women

In Costa Rica , Mother's Day is celebrated on the 15 th of August, and this is why that August has been extended to being the month of the woman.

Much has been said on the traditional roll of Latin American women; but, being that Costa Rica is a developing country and in which a traditional and conservative society next to a modern and liberal society coexists, it is logical that there have been changes in the woman's role in the house and also within society.

During this week, there will be a focus on the woman's role as mother, wife and worker and her effort to be recognized as an equal alongside men, and also for conserving the traditions and customs of her ancestors. This special date will also be a tribute for the woman and the role she plays as a mother, friend and companion.
